Fanwood

Fanwood

Built in 1874 the Fanwood train station stands as the oldest original train station in Union County and, in addition to providing commuters with service to Newark Penn Station, remains the center of many of this community’s activities. Fanwood continues to expand its downtown with new shops and restaurants while maintaining its small town charm. An interesting mix of homes, from Victorians and colonials to Capes and ranches, are maintained to Fanwood’s high building standards by its 7,300 residents. Students in Fanwood attend the schools of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional School District, which serves students in pre- kindergarten through twelfth grade from the Township of Scotch Plains and the Borough of Fanwood.
