Scotch Plains

Scotch Plains

Originally incorporated in 1878, Scotch Plains is a close-knit community made up of nine square miles. The village green and main street host local businesses and restaurants, including many that have been part of the community for decades. The rich history dates back centuries and some structures, like The Frazee House and The Stage House Inn, are part of the National Register of Historic Places. The town now offers a municipal golf course; several parks with plenty of recreational space; and access to the Raritan Valley train line via the Fanwood train station as well as a direct bus to New York City. Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School is consistently voted a top public high school in the state, and the town is also home to the Union County Vocational Technical Schools, including the Academy for Information Technology, named in several top national high school lists for excellence in education.
